3 tips to remember during rush hour

On Behalf of | Feb 12, 2023 | Car Accidents, Personal Injury

Traveling during rush hour is sometimes unavoidable. Some people have to drive in heavy traffic to get to and from work. You must ensure that you’re driving safely and taking the best precautions possible so you can make it to your destination.

While you can drive as safely as possible, you still have to count on other drivers to do the same. Even one unsafe driver during rush hour can lead to major crashes that involve multiple vehicles. Here are a few things you can do to improve your chances of making it to your destination safely.

Try to find an alternate route

If traffic is going to be unusually heavy, such as if there’s construction, you may need to find an alternate route. Even if it appears it will take you a little longer, it may be a better option than being stuck in traffic.

Don’t become distracted

Distractions don’t allow you to react to hazards the way you should. Avoid anything distracting when you’re driving, even if you’re driving slowly or completely stopped. Some drivers may try to read their texts or play games while traffic is stopped, but that’s never a good idea.

Leave room for other drivers

Tailgating isn’t a good option when you’re in rush hour traffic. You never know when the driver in front of you will slam on their brakes, so staying back a bit is a good idea.

Getting into a crash during rush hour can be devastating. You could suffer catastrophic injuries, and the heavy traffic could make it more difficult for emergency services to make it to you. If the wreck was the result of another driver’s negligence, you may choose to seek compensation. Experienced legal guidance can help.
